Spending policy

Categories your agent will always refuse, such as gambling, whatever someone’s role or limit.

Updated 11 October 2026

The spending policy stops your agent buying from, or browsing, certain kinds of business for anyone in your company. It applies whatever someone's role or spending limit is, including directors.

What happens

If someone asks their agent for something in a blocked category, for example to place a bet, the agent says:

I'm sorry, company policy will not permit me to do this for you. Please speak to a company owner or admin if you would like this restriction lifting.

Nothing is bought, and owners and admins get a notification saying who asked and what for.

Three layers of protection

  1. The agent's rules, in chat and in voice.
  2. A system check on every payment request and web browsing task before anything happens.
  3. The card network itself. Every single-use virtual card the agent pays with blocks these kinds of merchant, so a payment would be declined even if it got that far.

Categories

Blocked by default:

  • Gambling & betting: bookmakers, casinos, poker, bingo, lotteries and sports betting
  • Adult content & dating: adult sites, escort and dating services
  • Crypto, gift cards & cash: cryptocurrency, money transfers, prepaid and gift cards
  • Weapons

Available but off by default: Alcohol & tobacco.

Change the policy

Owners can tick or untick each category in Expenses › Agent payments, under Spending policy, then press Save limits.
