Mileage expenses
Record business mileage automatically from your phone and claim it monthly at HMRC rates.
Updated 11 October 2026
Mileage expenses live under Expenses › Mileage expenses. Trips can be recorded automatically by the Epicurus Pro phone app, or added by hand.
Automatic trips on your phone
- Open Expenses › Mileage expenses in the Epicurus Pro app.
- Switch on Record trips automatically and allow location Always when asked.
- iPhone: trips start when your phone detects you are driving, or when it connects to CarPlay. Android: pick your car's Bluetooth from the list and trips start when your phone connects to it.
- A trip ends after a few minutes stopped or walking. Short hops under about a quarter of a mile are ignored.
You don't need CarPlay or Android Auto for this to work. You can also press Start trip and Stop trip yourself.
Review your trips
- Each new trip arrives as Needs review. Mark it Business or Personal and add a purpose, for example "Site visit at the Leeds office".
- Every trip shows where it started and ended.
- Only business trips are claimed. Personal trips stay on your record but are never sent to your company.
- Use the month picker to go back up to 3 years.
Rates
Business trips are priced at HMRC approved mileage rates: 45p a mile for the first 10,000 business miles in the tax year (from 6 April), then 25p a mile.
Claims
- On the 1st of each month, last month's business trips are submitted as one claim automatically. Use Submit claim now to send it sooner.
- Admins see claims under Team claims, can approve, reject or mark them paid, and can download a CSV with the start and end of every journey.
- See Expense reports for any date range.
Ask your agent
You can say things like "how many business miles did I do last month?" or "submit my mileage claim".
